Administrative Assistant for Chief Executive Officer
Volunteer Administrative Assistant needed for our Chief Executive Office in our Downtown Pensacola office.  Duties include:

data entry and maintenance of spreadsheets, word processing, telephone calls and email correspondence, helping to

prepare for and gather info for presentations, and coordinating tasks. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have

excellent communication skills and be proficient in Microsoft office applications. This is a great opportunity for a business

major to intern with the Red Cross.

Commitment:  10-15 hours per week.

Front Desk Receptionists & Office Assistants
Volunteer receptionists and office assistants are needed at our Crestview, NAS Pensacola, Eglin AFB and Downtown

Pensacola offices.  Duties may include: greeting clients, volunteers and staff, answering telephones, assisting with various

clerical tasks (mail, fax, copy, scan, etc.), receive deliveries, and some data entry. The ideal candidate will have effective

communication skills, computer experience, good interpersonal skills, a professional experience and passion for assisting

others.

Commitment: minimum 4 hour shift each week

Community Education Presenter
Volunteers are needed to assist in preparing and providing community education to Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and

Walton Counties. Educators will be given training free of charge and asked to provide presentations or short classes to

people who are at risk specific to disasters or asked to staff information booths at education events. Volunteers will also be

required to complete post events reports.  The ideal candidate will have excellent public relation and communication skills

as well as a professional appearance.

Benefits include gaining public speaking experience, networking opportunities, recognition and a professional reference after

 6 months of positive work experience.

Commitment: varies; average 2 to 8 hours a month.

Military Services Volunteer

Volunteers that have base access are needed on Eglin AFB.  Duties may include: taking calls referred during a specified

shift; maintaining confidentiality; conducting an interview to obtain relevant information needed to process requests; verifying

information received from the families; completing necessary documentation; routing the message to the appropriate Red

Cross authorities. Some computer skills are required and volunteers need to be willing to be either very busy or very slow

depending on the day. The ideal candidate will to be able to multitask, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Volunteers will receive complete training and the satisfaction of providing emergency communications between military

personnel and their families during their time of crisis.  Professional reference provided after six months of positive work experience.

Commitment: minimum 4 hour shift each week.

Health and Safety Instructors across Northwest Florida

Volunteers needed to instruct classes in CPR, First Aid, AED, Life guard and Water Safety, Babysitting and CPR for the

Professional Rescuer.

months of positive work experience and a minimum number of classes taught.

Commitment: Flexible schedule. Opportunities available during the day, evening or weekends

Public Relations & Marking Coordinator – Chapter Level

Volunteer needed to develop and oversee marketing aspects, provide for advertising and PR needs for the chapter.  Duties

may include: writing and distributing press release and media information, interaction with media; reviewing advertising a

promotion options; develop media list and press packages; develop chapter-wide promotion plan; and secure photographers.

Benefits include gaining marking experience, networking opportunities, recognition and a professional reference after 6

months of positive work experience.

Commitment: approximately 2-4 hours per week but can increase to up to 12 hours a week when developing an event.

County Development Coordinator – Chapter Level

Volunteers needed in each of our 4 counties to assist in raising funds by developing relationships with existing and potential

donors in their designated county.  Duties may include: developing comprehensive database to support ongoing fundraising

activities; maintaining weekly communication with Financial development Director; attending meeting; supporting donor

relations, database management and donor research; assisting in coordination of special events and projects in specific

county.  The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have excellent communication skills and be proficient in Microsoft office

applications.

Commitment: approximately 10-12 hours per month, not including travel time.

Promotions & Marketing Coordinator – Event Committee

Volunteers needed to assist in development and execution of marking plan for special events. Duties may include:

developing a specific event-directed media list and encouraging local media coverage such as feature stories, photo ops;

inviting key media to event; preparing and sending out press releases; developing a publicity and promotion plan for specific

events and placing media advertisements; overseeing printing of all promotional materials; developing signage for specific

event ensuring proper sponsor recognition; securing photographers for specific event; working with committee to select and

purchase event items; designing and distributing invitations for event as well as determining best delivery method. The ideal

candidate will be creative, fun and posses excellent communication and computer skills.

Commitment: approximately 2-4 hours per week but can increase to up to 12 hours a week when developing an event.

Ticket Sales Coordinator – Event Committee

Volunteers needed to assist with special event ticket sales.  Duties may include: managing ticket sales for specific event;

maintaining invitation list; determining best delivery and sales method and deadline for ticket sales; implementing ticket

sales and distribution; determining ticket distribution controls; issuing tickets and collecting sales money. Ideal candidate

will have persistence and will not take no for an answer.  We are looking for someone who is not afraid to sell and are

detailed oriented and very organized.

of positive work experience.

Commitment: approximately 4 hours a week plus bi monthly meeting until month of event at which time more time may be

required.

Sponsorship Coordinator – Event Committee

Volunteers needed for soliciting sponsors for special events and ensuring sponsors are appropriately recognized.  Duties

may include:  Developing a list of potential sponsorship opportunities; coordinating with other committee members; soliciting

sponsorship relationships; communicating efforts to event Chairperson; maintain accurate list of supporters; ensuring all

proper recognition is received before, during and after event; writing thank you letters. The ideal candidate must have the

unique ability not to give up.

Commitment: varies depending on event; can be as little or as much as the volunteer can give.

Event Production Coordinator – Event Committee

Volunteer needed to provide assistance with planning, set-up, production and clean-up of event.  Duties may include:

working with other committee members to develop scope of event; determining food and beverage needs; working with

caterer; developing event atmosphere and ambiance; determining appropriate entertainment; working with committee to

determine volunteer needs for event; creating event timeline; coordinating event clean up; ensuring alcohol policies are

followed; arranging for set up and take down of equipment; arranging for return off rental/borrowed equipment and supplies.

Ideal candidate will be create, fun, detail oriented, well-organized and a hard worker.

Benefits include event planning experience, networking opportunities, recognition and a professional reference after 6

months of positive work experience.

Commitment: approximate 2-4 hours per week; but may be as high as 10-12 hours per week just prior to event.

Auction Coordinator-Event Committee

Volunteers needed to assist with securing donated items that will be sold via a live and/or silent auction to the highest

bidder. It is the responsibility of this team to secure the best and most sought after auction items, and prepare the written

descriptions for the auction catalog.  Duties may include: Developing a list of potential donors and auction items; soliciting

donations; creating an auction list; determining the order items will be auctioned; working with volunteer coordinator for

spotters, clerks, and checkers; working with event coordinator to establish payment methods, policies; preparing displays of

auction items; creating numbered auction paddles and method of distribution; determining last bid time and method for

announcing “winners” and closing the silent auction; creating bid sheets for each silent auction item and appropriate

signage. The ideal candidate will have virtually no fear and be full of charisma. Most importantly, these coordinators must

know how to ask for stuff...and get it for free!

Blood Program Volunteer Needed
Volunteers are needed to support blood drives in all four Northwest Florida counties. Duties may include: greeting donors

and assisting with registration, labeling blood collection packs, escorting donors to canteen area; and serving as canteen

host, observing donors, providing refreshments, and conversation. The ideal candidate will be able to relate with comfort to a

variety of people, be willing to attend initial and on-going training sessions and able to meet specific skill standards for blood

collection.

Benefits include gaining satisfaction from assisting Red Cross meet our need for live-saving blood and having the opportunity

to learn about local and international Red Cross services as well as experience working on team with committed members.

Commitment: approximately 6 hour/shift-minimum 4 shifts/year.

Disaster Action Team Member
Volunteers needed for on-call positions that places trained Red Cross volunteers at the scene of a disaster within
minutes of

its occurrence. Volunteers provide immediate humanitarian relief, such as food, clothing and lodging, to clients displaced by

disaster, and follow up casework to help clients begin the recovery process. Disaster Action Team members are also the

first to respond to larger disasters, initiating the relief effort and performing assessments while the larger operation is being

staged. The ideal candidate will have strong organization and communication skills; be a team player; able to respond to

disaster scenes within specific time constraints; ability to complete necessary forms; and provide referrals.

Benefits as a valued member of a Red Cross response team include the training and opportunity to make an immediate

positive difference in the lives of a family in distress.

Commitment: Must commit to a minimum of six months; volunteer time/hours varies with schedule and needs, typically on

call one week a month in rotation.

Disaster Preparedness Team Member
Be part of the team that helps build the Northwest Florida Chapter's capacity to respond to disaster. As
a Preparedness

Team Member, you will assist with disaster response planning and exercises, keep supplies and inventory stocked, and

organizational agreements up to date. Being prepared is essential to lessen the impact disasters have on our families, our

neighborhoods, and our community.
