Basic Food Safety

Description: The purpose of this course is to provide
online safefood handling training for American Red Cross Mass Careworkers. This course should be taken by all Mass Care Feedingworkers if they do not already have more advanced training. It will provide a general foundation for safe food handling practices. It
includes subjects such as Personal Hygiene, Times andTemperatures and Cross Contamination
Shelter Simulation

Description: The purpose of this training is to provide
participants with an opportunity to apply the knowledge, skills and abilities
required to operate a successful shelter.
Logistics An Overview

Description: The purpose of this course is to provide
basic information about the activities and processes of
Material Support Services activities in support of an American Red Cross disaster relief operation. Participants will learn about the skills, abilities,
and knowledge needed by Material Support Services
workers and how they can get started in their local chapter.
Logistics Simulation

Description: To provide participants an opportunity to
practice the knowledge and skills needed to run a successful logisticaloperation in their local chapter.
Disaster Health Services: An Overview

Description: To provide basic information about the
activities of the Disaster Health Services (DHS) function of the American Red Cross. Participants will learn more about what various knowledge, skills, and abilities are needed by Disaster Health Services staff as
well as how they can get involved in their local chapter
Disaster Health Services Simulation

Description: To provide participants an opportunity to
practice the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to work in the Disaster Health Services function on a disaster relief operation. This course completes basic Disaster Services preparation to work in Disaster
Health Services (DHS) on local and national relief
operations.
Public Affairs in Disaster I

Description: To assist Red Cross paid and volunteer
staff in working with the Public Affairs function on a local  disaster relief operation and to initiate the Public Affairs function on a State or Major disaster relief operation.
Logistics During a WMD/T

The purpose of this course is to provide Red Cross
paid and volunteer chapter/station/Blood Region logistics staff the knowledge, skill and abilities that enable them to prepare for and support Red Cross services during a weapon of mass destruction/terrorism (WMD/T) incident within their chapter’s jurisdiction.
Disaster Kitchen Training

Description: This course prepares Red Cross and
partner agency staff members to work in kitchen sites and prepare large numbers of meals for those affected by a disaster. Activities at a kitchen site include: preparing food in the kitchen and working in the
yard/supply area and mobile feeding area, if needed.
Participant must be able to lift 45 pounds.
Emergency Operations Center/Incident
Command Liaison

Description: The purpose of this basic Disaster
Services course is to prepare Red Cross volunteers and employees who will be assigned to government and emergency settings to work collaboratively with Red Cross partners, helping to ensure a coordinated response that results in effective service delivery.
Community Services Overview

Description: The purpose of this basic level Disaster
Services training is to provide an overview of the activities  performed by the Community Services group in support of a disaster relief operation.
ERVs: Ready, Set, Roll

Description: The purpose of this basic level Disaster
Services course is to prepare volunteers and employees of the Red Cross to safely and effectively use an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV)
and its equipment to meet feeding and other service
needs of people affected by disaster.
Foundations of Disaster Mental Health

Description: The purpose of this basic level Disaster
Services training is to prepare licensed mental health
professionals to provide for and respond to the psychological needs of people
across the continuum of disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
Fundamentals of Staff Services

Description: Fundamentals of Staff Services is an
online course that will familiarize participants with the high-level responsibilities of the Staff Services group. It consists of four separate learning modules and takes approximately one hour to complete.
Participants must demonstrate mastery of the concepts
presented in the course by correctly answering at least 80% of the questions on a final assessment in order to receive a certificate of completion. Fulfilling Our Mission: Translating Your Compassion Into Community Action (DSGEN200A) is a recommended course
prerequisite.
Client Assistance Cards Caseworkers

Description: Client Assistance Cards: Caseworkers is a
basic level online course that consists of three separate learning modules and takes approximately two hours to complete. The course introduces caseworkers to the role of issuing Client Assistance
Cards by interviewing clients, filling out the proper
forms and activating Client Assistance Cards via phone. The course addresses both a disaster relief operation and a local response. Client Casework: Providing Emergency Assistance (DSCLC202A)
or Family Service: Providing Emergency Assistance
(ARC-3072-6) is a required prerequisite and Fulfilling Our Mission: Translating Your Compassion Into Community Action is a recommended prerequisite.

through the Caseworker’s role of issuing Client Assistance Cards by interviewing clients, filling out the proper forms and activating Client Assistance Cards via phone. It then addresses how FSI workers

Fulfilling Our Mission:Translating Your
Compassion into  Community Action

Description: Fulfilling Our Mission: Translating Your
Compassion into Community Action is a basic, entry level instructor-led course, which introduces potential disaster volunteers and members of other local agencies to the role of the Red Cross in the
community's actions in preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies and disasters. The
course will enable individual volunteers to translate their care and compassion for their community into action and provide information to other community agencies on Red Cross work and possible partnership in preparation for and response to a disaster.
Fundamentals of Disaster Assessment

Description: Fundamentals of Disaster Assessment
(DSIMS200B) is a blended learning course consisting of two components, online (DSIMS200C) and instructor-led (DSIMS200A). Successful
completion of both course components is required to
receive a certificate of course completion.

The online training component of the course (Part 1)
resides on the Red Cross Learning Management System (LMS). It provides an overview of the Disaster Assessment activity and its related tasks.

The instructor-led component of the course (Part 2)
will reinforce and build upon content presented in the online component while providing participants with the opportunity to apply their knowledge
and develop skills in Disaster Assessment through
applied learning activities.
Client Casework: Providing Emergency
Assistance

Description: Client Casework: Providing Emergency
Assistance is an instructor-led, video-supported course designed to train Red Cross caseworkers how to conduct effective client interviews and
provide appropriate assistance to help meet a client’s
immediate disaster-caused or disaster-aggravated needs. This learning experience consists of a series of short instructor and video presentations interwoven with class discussions, which focus on the skills, knowledge and attitudes required of a Red
Cross caseworker. This learning experience culminates
in an interactive, hands-on simulated activity during which participants are provided the opportunity to conduct interviews, assess client needs and determine the appropriate assistance, using the tools
and resources available to caseworkers.
Serving People with Disabilities following a
Disaster

Description: Serving People with Disabilities Following
a Disaster is a blended learning course consisting of two components, online and instructor-led, which outlines American Red Cross policies and
practices as they pertain to providing services to
people with disabilities following a disaster.
A 45-minute online component provides general
information for any American Red Cross employee or volunteer who serves the public following a disaster. Additional classroom instruction, including a
tabletop exercise, provides detailed training for
disaster workers who are in direct and constant contact with people with disabilities. This instructor-led portion allows learners to practice skills obtained
from the online portion of the course.
Introduction to Disaster Services (Classroom)

Description: The purpose of this basic level Disaster
Services online course is to engage and inspire the public to actively participate in supporting American Red Cross disaster response.
This self-study course will introduce learners to
American Red Cross Disaster Services and allow them to discover how volunteers support this critical mission and to explore ways they can become involved in a local chapter.  
Shelter Operations

Description: The purpose of this basic level Disaster
Services training is to prepare volunteers and employees of the Red Cross and other agencies to effectively and sensitively manage shelter
operations as a team while meeting the needs of
people displaced as a result of a disaster.
